  • Derek Murchison called the meeting to order at 2:23 pm.

  • Informational: Hjordis Williams announced that she will no longer be able to attend SSC meetings or be the DAC and ELAC representative due to employment responsibilities. A replacement will be needed to fulfill her duties.

  • Approval of 2018-19 Title I Parent & Family Engagement Policy

  • Approval of Minutes from September 25, 2018 SSC Meeting
  • Voting: Laura Lopez-Hudsen motioned to approve the minutes from September 25, 2018. Nhing B. Reyes2nd the motion. Motion approved: 8 yes; 0 no; 0 abstain.
  • Hjordis Williams excused herself from the meeting to attend to work responsibilities.

  • 2018-2019 Comprehensive Safety Plan Review
  • Informational: Derek Murchison, Principal
  • Informational: Derek Murchison recommended to have Dario Gutierrez present his SSC Legal Responsibilities and Best Practices Information first. Nhing B. Reyes 2nd the motion. Motion approved: 7 yes; 0 no; 0 abstain.

  • 2018-2019 SSC Training - Review of roles, responsibilities, legal tasks
  • Informational: Dario Gutierrez, Central Office Resource Teacher Financial Planning, Monitoring, Accountability
  • Informational: Dario Gutierrez presented information regarding School Site Council Legal Responsibilities and Best Practices. The following topics were covered: -Role of SSC, members, Principal, and Chair -SSC Responsibilities and Best Practices -Single Plan for Student Achievement -Budgets
  • Laura Lopez-Hudson moved to approve the Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School Parent Compact. Nhing B. Reyes 2nd the motion. Motion approved: 7 yes; 0 no; 0 abstain.
  • Review 2018-2019 LCAP
  • Informational: Derek Murchison, Principal
  • Informational: Derek Murchison discussed 2018-2019 Comprehensive Safety Plan. For safety reasons, Zamorano participated only in the duck and cover portion of the Great American Shakedown. Unannounced evacuation drills are held regularly, and the school has had an actual emergency to practice current plan and procedures.
  • The district receives input to allocate funds directly through an online link. Dario Gutierrez will send link to SSC and SGT.
  • Derek Murchison provided the 2018-2019 Title I/II Budget as of October 30, 2018. He explained that what used to be considered discretionary funds are now accessed to meet the needs from other categories. The school is considering other ways to allocate funds.

  • Informational: Hjordis Williams
  • Informational: DAC determines what is fair and equitable at all schools. A representative will be needed at the November 14 DAC meeting. It is held in Old Town 6:30-8:15, and childcare is provided. Parents are automatically entitled to vote, however staff must be designated as the DAC Rep. Dario Gutierrez will email the issues that will be voted on at the next meeting. Derek Murchison recommended a rotation for attendance at the meetings so that the responsibility is not placed on just one person.
