Augustin ZamoranoOur school opened on September 9, 1986, as one of two public visual art schools in California. Zamorano is located in the Bay Terrace community of San Diego and has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students. The school operates on a year round schedule.

Zamorano Fine Arts Academy is named for Augustin Vicente Zamorano, a Spanish artist who became California's first elementary textbook printer. Augustin Vicente Zamorano was also known as a statesman, soldier and craftsman during the early 1800's. The visual arts magnet program encompasses all mediums: two and three dimensional art, textile arts, clay, graphic arts, architecture, painting and drawing, photography, and more. Art appreciation and art history are also part of our magnet instructional program. The school has an art studio, a photography dark room, and an art patio with pottery wheels.
